About the role:
You will be a senior member of a team responsible for EPA’s on-ground regulatory response in the region, including education, compliance monitoring and inspections, and managing non-compliance via regulatory notices and enforcement action. You will use your initiative to prioritise tasks and monitor workflow in delivering frontline regulatory operations, aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities, to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.
In this role you will:
- Participate in the response to environmental and public health emergencies and incidents.
- Comply with all legislative, policy and process obligations and requirements in the conduct of regulatory operations; achieve the highest standards of performance, accountability, collaboration, ethics, and integrity
- Provide support and guidance to team members in delivering organisational priorities by offering expertise and mentorship.
- Represent the EPA positively when engaging with the community and duty holders, fostering awareness and understanding of the laws that protect the environment and human health from pollution and waste, while clearly communicating the EPA's role as Victoria’s independent environmental regulator.
Skills and experience:
- Successful completion of Authorised Officer and Field Response Officer training (on-job),or completion within a reasonable time frame from commencement in the role.
- Demonstrated experience and a record of achievement in a relevant regulatory role (e.g. environmental regulation)
- Demonstrated strong stakeholder engagement skills by effectively communicating with diverse groups, including duty holders and team members, ensuring alignment of goals, addressing concerns, and fostering collaborative relationships.
