Salary: Science B $97,955 - $111,142 pa + 12% superannuation

Location: Ernest Jones Drive, Macleod VIC 3085, Hybrid work arrangement  (3 days in office)

About the role: 

You will be responsible for providing expert advice, guidance, and delivering programs in freshwater sciences. You will inform regulatory and strategic decisions by the EPA about complex freshwater quality and freshwater pollution problems, aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.    

 

In this role you will:  

  • Provide scientific advice, guidance, and deliver programs in freshwater sciences, that meet the priority needs of the EPA as a science-based regulator.  
  • Support the delivery of scientific advice to inform regulatory and strategic decisions about freshwater quality and freshwater pollution, ensuing an understanding of potential environmental impacts of different options. 
  • Contribute to the analysis of scientific evidence and preparation of statements of opinion for use in compliance and enforcement activities, including prosecutions. 
  • Communicate scientific/technical information about freshwater quality and freshwater pollution to a wide variety of audiences, including the results of associated research and analysis  

 

Skills and experience: 

  • A tertiary degree and/or post graduate qualifications in applied science, environmental science, ecotoxicology, or equivalent, preferably with specialisation in freshwater.  
  • Experience in delivery of applied environmental sciences, preferably related to freshwater. 
  • Proven ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives and procedures, to achieve optimal organisational outcomes. 
  • A proven record of achievement in a similar role which contributes to organisational excellence, high standards of performance and a positive organisational culture.
