About the role:

You will fulfil a critical role in coordinating complex, high volume, multi-disciplinary advice to support regulatory decision making. Using innovative thinking and analysis, this role will undertake assessment, case planning, implementation (service delivery), monitoring and review for high priority, complex and multi-disciplinary requests. As a client focussed role, you will negotiate and collaborate with technical specialists, business areas, industry sectors and external stakeholders to support the end-to-end delivery of quality advice services, aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste. This role requires advanced knowledge in a specialised scientific discipline. This is a senior role for an experienced professional with a technical background, strong communication and stakeholder management skills who wants to contribute to the success of the EPA.

In these roles you will:

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of advice under our tiered case management framework. This will include coordination between EPA business areas, tracking timelines, actions and deliverables, and undertaking reviews to identify and manage issues such as resourcing constraints or emerging risks.
  • Apply technical expertise to interpret and communicate complex scientific and multidisciplinary information that provides high-quality, integrated and fit for purpose advice aligned with EPA organisational and regulatory frameworks.
  • Negotiate with stakeholders and peers with focus on understanding stakeholder issues and gaining co-operation in the meeting of timelines for delivery of advice, leading liaisons between the Science Division and Permissions area, that ensure there is clear, consistent, and timely resolution and communication of advice and technical matters to support regulatory decision-making.
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with peer and senior internal and external stakeholders to deliver customer focussed support, including regular communication and engagement to provide status updates, ensure clarity of technical information and issues, expectation management and representing Science at internal and external meetings. Prepare technical reports at an advanced professional level.

Skills and experience:

  • A tertiary qualification in environmental sciences or a related discipline.
  • Senior level experience in one or more of air, noise, odour, contaminated environments, waste, water, human health, or chemistry sciences.
  • Senior level experience in the provision of scientific or consultancy services, with the ability to monitor stakeholder satisfaction, constructively deal with issues and implement innovative solutions.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and collaboration skills including the ability to effectively negotiate and influence.
