Salary: VPS 5.1 - $109,730 to $121,247 + 11.5% superannuation

About the role:
Working collaboratively, you will lead the strategic direction and delivery of community science activities. This includes citizen science and community engagement activities to enhance the delivery and engagement of science to help to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.
The position will use initiative, strategic thinking and strong communication skills to lead a collaborative approach to partner with both internal and external stakeholders to lead the development and delivery of initiatives and projects to increase the delivery and engagement of science.
In this role you will:

Lead and enhance EPA’s community science program to help ensure it is resourced, fit for purpose, sustainable and meets organisational objectives.

Collaborate with scientists, operations and other EPA staff to design and deliver initiatives that fit EPA and community objective.

Support the managment of EPA's soil laboratory and application of in-field soil screening equipment.

Facilitate trials, workshops, ongoing scientific/technical support, and other events with relevant target audiences (this may include occasional regional travel and weekend or out of work hours).
Skills and experience:
- Graduate qualifications and/or relevant experience in applied/environmental science or equivalent is mandatory; post-graduate qualifications in a relevant field are highly desirable.
- Relevant experience in citizen science, community science and/or science outreach is highly desirable;
- Relevant experience developing communication and engagement products suited to various target audiences is desirable;
- A current driver’s licence is mandatory.
- Knowledge of safe use and work practices in the application of techniques and use of scientific equipment relevant to environmental chemistry and/or monitoring.
