About the role: 

You will manage daily requests for end-user support, scientific information and advice to support regulatory decision-making. Science Advisors use initiative to prioritise tasks and monitor services to support the delivery of timely and high-quality scientific guidance, advice and data, aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.

 

In this role, you will:  

  • Work under the direction of the Science Services Lead, take a customer service approach to delivering timely and high-quality scientific services, advice and information as required by EPA staff to meet the organisation’s strategic and regulatory priorities.

  • Deliver EQuIS and the Sampling and Analysis Service (a business-hours rostered service) to EPA staff to ensure evidence is appropriately collected and tested for regulatory decision-making

  • Fulfil Power User responsibilities for EQuIS, EPA Victoria’s environmental data management system; including end-user support, resolution of data errors with laboratory providers, system administration tasks, system maintenance/improvements, acceptance testing, reporting and, the development of guidance, training and communications.

  • Deliver Applied Science Connect service (a business-hours rostered service) including the management of requests for scientific information from EPA staff to support regulatory decision-making, interpreting, prioritising, and assigning requests to relevant Science Division experts, ensuring a timely and high-quality response.

  • Support the management of external laboratory service providers to ensure they deliver services in accordance with their contracts. Raise service delivery or performance risks and assist with their mitigation.

 

Skills and experience: 

  • A tertiary qualification in environmental sciences or a related discipline.

  • Experience with EQuIS and/or ServiceNow is desirable.

  • Experience in one or more of air, noise, odour, contaminated environments, waste, water, human health, chemistry or data sciences.

  • A proven record of achievement in a similar role which contributes to organisational excellence, high standards of performance and a positive organisational culture
