Location: Ernest Jones Drive, Macleod - Hybrid work arrangement (3 days in office)

About the role:
You’ll lead EPA’s air monitoring operations across laboratory and field activities and play a key role within the broader leadership team. The role has a strong focus on people leadership, operational delivery, health and safety, quality management and financial oversight. Air monitoring expertise can be developed on the job, with operational leadership capability being key.
In this role you will:
- Lead and manage an operational team across laboratory and field activities, fostering a positive culture of performance, accountability and integrity
- Plan, oversee and deliver air monitoring operations, ensuring compliance with quality management systems, governance arrangements and regulatory requirements
- Maintain strong oversight of health, safety and continuous improvement in operational practices and outcomes
- Manage budgets, procurement, contracts, assets and resources to support effective and sustainable service delivery
- Contribute as a member of the leadership team, providing operational and strategic input aligned to EPA priorities
Skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in applied science, environmental science, engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience leading and managing operational or field-based teams in a complex environment
- Strong people leadership capability, including coaching, performance management and team development
- Demonstrated experience in financial, budget, procurement and contract management
- Experience in air monitoring, environmental science, laboratory or field-based operations is desirable but not essential and can be developed
