About the role:
Reporting to the Manager Investigations, the Team Leader, Investigations – West Metro supervises a team of Investigators in conducting intelligence-led investigations into environmental crime (relating to pollution and waste) in the region, proactively targeting high risk offenders to systematically identify and prevent environmental harm from occurring and ensuring that those that break environmental laws are held to account.
In this role you will:
- Oversee, plan and deliver proactive, intelligence led investigation using innovative techniques to target high risk offenders; and investigate illegal activities with a view to submitting quality briefs of evidence to bring court action.
- Lead and support the broader ECB Leadership Team and the Chief Investigator to deliver the Branch Annual Plan, including contributing to strategic planning, coordinating priorities, monitoring progress and reporting on outcomes to ensure timely achievement of agreed regulatory and investigations objectives.
- Ensure close, but appropriate, collaboration with internal stakeholders such as regional operations teams, Legal Branch, Data Analytics and Intelligence Unit in delivering EPA’s strategic regulatory priority
- Continue the uplift in investigations capability.
Skills and experience:
- A relevant tertiary degree or qualifications in investigations, law or a related discipline is desirable.
- Senior level experience in the management and conduct of criminal investigations.
- Knowledge of contemporary techniques for the conduct of proactive and reactive criminal investigations.
- Experience supervising other investigators.
- Working within Government and Government regulators is desirable.
