About the role:
Reporting to the Team Leader, Field Specialists – Waste, the Senior Waste Specialist is a senior member of a team responsible for providing expert compliance and enforcement reviews, technical advice and operational support relating to Waste and high-risk sites.
In this role you will:
- Plan and deliver programs, projects and operations to improve the regulation of waste and high-risk sites.
- In collaboration with stakeholders, maintain an accurate understanding of what is happening around Victoria in relation to waste and high risk sites.
- Provide specialist expertise to support effective frontline regulation of Waste and high-risk sites aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities.
- Develop and support investigations and enforcement action relating to hazardous waste and high-risk sites, including acting as an expert witness and advisor.
- Contribute to the upskilling of regional operations teams and other parts of EPA in the regulation, and identification and management of risks.
Skills and experience:
- A relevant tertiary qualification complementary to the role is mandatory.
- Senior level experience and recognised expertise in waste.
- A detailed knowledge and understanding of Victoria’s environmental protection laws.
- A broad understanding of environmental regulation as it relates to pollution and waste is required.
- Advanced cross functional management skills and demonstrated capability to plan, monitor and deliver multiple concurrent projects / programs.
