Location - 664 Collins Street, Docklands VIC 3008 (intrastate travel to other metropolitan and regional offices when required)

About the role:
You will lead the delivery of EPA’s Safety & Wellbeing strategy by partnering with leaders and teams to grow a human‑centred, learning‑oriented safety culture. You will produce insights and assurance against statutory obligations and our management system, supporting EPA to be an exemplary in safety and wellbeing for a modern regulator, with regular travel to EPA offices across metropolitan and regional Victoria.
In this role you will:
- Partner across EPA to identify, assess and respond to emerging and significant health, safety and wellbeing risks, with a strong emphasis on OVA and psychosocial hazards (requires travel to offices across metropolitan and regional Victoria).
- Develop and review policies, guidance, training packages and procedures that are practical, co‑designed and enable safe, high‑quality work.
- Provide specialist advice to leaders and the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Committee, analysing incident and near‑miss trends and delivering agreed improvement actions.
- Maintain assurance against our safety management system requirements (including ISO 45001), partnering with senior leaders to mitigate risks and close gaps.
- Deliver expert injury management and return‑to‑work support in collaboration with People & Culture Business Partners and people leaders.
Skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in occupational safety (and/or equivalent expertise gained through experience, training, accreditation).
- Deep knowledge of WHS risk management across diverse and high‑risk settings, including psychosocial hazards and OVA.
- Demonstrated experience managing and maintaining a safety management system to ISO 45001.
- Advanced stakeholder partnering and influencing skills; proven ability to plan, monitor and deliver multiple concurrent programs and projects.
- Expertise in injury management and return‑to‑work coordination.
- Experience applying relevant legislation, regulations and reporting requirements to achieve organisational outcomes; exposure to regulatory/hazardous environments is desirable.
