About the Organisation

EPA works to prevent and reduce the harmful effect of pollution and waste on Victoria’s environment and people. We work with community, industry and businesses. As the needs of Victorians change, we must be equipped to adapt and respond to a range of factors.

We are a workplace committed to new ways of working; EPA celebrates diversity of people and lifestyles. We offer a wide range of practical options to support both your work and personal life.

The EPA Experience

  • See the impact in the communities we live in: at EPA you see your work first-hand

  • Range of internal working groups, networks and volunteering opportunities

  • On-the-job training for a wide range of environmental roles

  • Flexible start and finish times, as well as compressed work week options

About the role:

You will design, deliver and evaluate targeted regulatory interventions that prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment. Working across EPA teams and with external partners, you will help translate regulatory priorities into well planned, evidence based preventative projects that address high risk behaviours, systemic issues and emerging trends.

This role sits within the Preventative Projects unit and focuses on intervention design and project delivery rather than frontline compliance or enforcement activity.

In this role you will:

  • Design, plan and deliver preventative regulatory interventions aligned to EPA priorities such as pollution prevention, fire prevention and waste related risks
  • Analyse intelligence, data and insights to identify priority risks, trends and opportunities for targeted intervention
  • Work collaboratively across EPA teams and with external partners to coordinate and support intervention delivery
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on project outcomes to support continuous improvement
  • Apply strong project management and problem solving approaches to deliver agreed outcomes and timeframes

Skills and experience:

  • Experience delivering projects or preventative programs with a clear outcome focus
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to turn complex information into targeted interventions
  • Experience in intervention design, behaviour change initiatives, regulatory programs or policy driven projects
  • Understanding of regulatory or compliance systems, with a focus on supporting and influencing lawful behaviour
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across internal teams and external partners
