About the role:
Reporting to the Manager, Compliance Programs, the Project Manager will be responsible for an acoustic program. This initiative involves specialist acoustic technology and equipment to test their effectiveness in detecting and reporting excessively noisy vehicles to the EPA. The project will validate both the detection capabilities of this technology and its operational application within Victoria. This project is aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste. This position is offered as a two-year fixed term appointment. This is a role for an experienced project manager with a regulatory and/or business improvement background with strong stakeholder management skills who is keen to contribute to the success of the EPA.
In this role you will:
- Lead the acoustic program in Victoria, to validate the detection capabilities of the technology for its longer-term operational application.
- Manage all aspects of the project implementation, including planning, procurement, operational oversight, budget management and reporting.
- Work closely with EPA's infringement management team, public affairs, information technology, science and other parts of EPA in the planning and execution of the project.
- Work proactively with external stakeholders, including Victoria Police, local Councils, energy suppliers and technical experts to deliver the project.
- Implement good project management practices, consistent with the requirements set by the Corporate Services Division, to plan, oversight, manage, monitor and quality assure project delivery
Skills and experience:
- Senior level experience in managing projects of a technical and regulatory nature to achieve organisational outcomes, with demonstrated strength in project management and delivering projects to specifications on time, and on budget.
- Practical knowledge and skills in project management, including contract and financial management.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills including the ability to effectively influence and negotiate with key stakeholders.
- Advanced management skills and demonstrated capability to plan, monitor and deliver projects / programs, including risk identification and management, budget development and management; optimise the allocation and use of resources; and evaluate project / program effectiveness.
