About the role:

Reporting to the Team Leader, Development Licences, the Permissioning Officer is a member of a team responsible for implementing EPA’s permissioning framework. You will assess applications and issue development licences, Pilot Project Licences and assess and determine complex short term discharge applications under the Environment Protection Act 2017.

 

In this role you will: 

  • Support the implementation of EPA’s permissioning framework to ensure that scheduled activities, infrastructure, and other development projects are appropriately authorised under the Environment Protection Act 2017.
  • Actively contribute to the development of a positive and high performing team culture, including by identifying and implementing opportunities to improve teamwork practices.
  • In consultation with Science Division, Operations Division and Legal Branch, assess development licences that authorise capital works and the commissioning of a plant or premises.
  • In consultation with Science Division, Operations Division and Legal Branch, assess development licence applications, pilot project applications and assess and determine complex short term discharge applications under the Environment Protection Act 2017.

 

Skills and experience:

  • A relevant tertiary degree and/or post graduate qualifications is desirable.
  • Experience in permissioning, preferably within Government.
  • Knowledge of the Environment Protection Act 2017 and regulations.
  • Knowledge of development assessment and approval processes, and the translation of policy and guidance into practical application.
