About the role:

You will use your initiative to prioritise tasks and monitor workflow in assessing applications and issuing operating and pilot project licences under the Environment Protection Act 2017.

Duties:

To be successful in this role you will be required to (not limited to):

  • Project manage a portfolio of applications and prioritise competing deadlines.
  • Work collaboratively with others to ensure accountability and delivery of Permissioning decisions within statutory timeframes.
  • In consultation with the Science Division, Operations Division, and Legal Branch, you will review, assess, and determine applications for completeness, and determine for issue or refusal.
  • Model positive behaviours and support colleagues in their work.
  • Support the Permissioning Unit to implement EPA’s Permissioning framework.

Skills and experience:

Here are the types of experience, qualifications, and qualities we are looking for:

  • Holds a relevant tertiary degree, postgraduate qualification, or equivalent relevant experience within a science, environment background, or related fields. (desirable).
  • Broad understanding of the Environment Protection Act 2017 and regulations (desirable).
  • Ability to apply relevant government legislation, regulations, reporting directives, and procedures, to achieve optimal organisational outcomes (desirable).
  • Ability to manage multiple applications and prioritise competing statutory deadlines.
  • Experience and ability to be an influential and effective team member.
  • Ability to use your critical thinking skills and experience to determine the best solution for a problem or complex situation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders.
