About the role:
You will be responsible for leading EPA’s regulatory response in relation to administering EPA’s litter/waste and motor vehicle programs to address littering from vehicles and noisy and smoky vehicle emissions. With a focus on educating Victorian communities and enforcing compliance with the law, as a member of an engaging and flexible team, you will use your excellent communication and organisational skills to deliver high-volume administrative processing of reports, issuing infringements, notices and advisory letters, and post-issue infringement management, aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities to prevent harms to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste. You will use your decision-making abilities and initiative to prioritise workflow within statutory timeframes in supporting the delivery of the program, aligned to EPA’s strategic priorities, to prevent harm to Victorian communities and the environment from pollution and waste.
In this role you will:

Working under the direction of the Senior Infringement Officer (VPS 4), contribute to the delivery of the statewide litter and motor vehicle programs through assessing high volume reports (over 15,000 per year) and decision making in issuing infringements, notices and advisory letters, including post-issue infringement management; contribute to motor vehicle roadside operations; support delivery of other statewide compliance programs as required.
- Contribute to enforcement action by escalating unpaid infringements to Fines Victoria and providing support for summary prosecutions such as the preparation and collation of evidentiary matters for prosecution briefs.
- Comply with all legislative, policy and process obligations and requirements in the delivery of the litter and motor vehicles program, achieve the highest standards of performance, accountability, collaboration, ethics, and integrity
- Participate in the response to environmental and public health emergencies and incidents.
Skills and experience:
- Experience in data processing or a high-volume environment is highly desirable
- Knowledge of the infringement process is desirable.
- A proven record of achievement in a similar role contributing to organisational excellence, high standards of performance and a positive organisational culture.
- Demonstrated capability to deliver projects / programs to plan, including the management of risks, prioritisation of tasks, monitoring of workflow; and contributing to the evaluation of project/program effectiveness; use of initiative to identify, communicate, and address delivery risks and opportunities to improve organisational outcomes.
