Location: 664 Collins Street, Docklands (negotiable) - Hybrid work arrangement (3 days in office)

About the role:
You’ll be responsible for supporting the delivery of EPA’s waste levy and financial assurance programs, with a primary focus on waste levy. This role sits within a key regulatory function that ensures duty holders meet their obligations, supporting compliance and protecting the environment and community.
Working in a structured, data-driven environment, you’ll review levy submissions, identify discrepancies, and work across EPA to support regulatory outcomes and enforcement where needed.
In this role you will:
- Contribute to the delivery of the financial assurance program through assessing potential environmental impacts and applying the legislative framework
- Manage the quarterly waste levy process, reviewing and validating licence holder submissions
- Conduct quality assurance checks and manage adjustments, including over and under payments
- Prepare and issue notices of assessment in line with legislative requirements
- Support the annual waste levy audit program, working with external auditors on high-risk sites
- Work across EPA (including regions and legal) to manage non-compliance, including escalations and court processes
Skills and experience:
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills across internal and external environments
- Strong data and numerical capability (Excel, analysis, cross-referencing)
- Ability to interpret and apply legislation in a regulatory or risk-based environment
- Experience in regulatory, compliance or government roles (corporate backgrounds also considered)
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage high-volume, process-driven work
- Exposure to waste, landfill, pollution, or environmental regulation (desirable)
